A full coloured and textured version of a superb sketch by the very talented ~ genesis
When I first saw this sketch I fell in love with it and the concept behind it. I knew I wanted to work on this image straight away. I have never done work like this before - ie working from someone elses sketch so this was quite a refreshing process. I will be posting a walkthrough of the process some time soon in my website.
The original premise behind the image, written by Genesis is:
"The robot Rustbucket stands in its swampy home, not moving waiting to catch a ray of light where it will be used as energy. Rustbuckets 'family' sits patiently waiting for him to catch some energy for everyone to take home. Although to them this may seem like a few minutes to us it is years.
When this is done imagine earthy kind of colours with a cold mist engulfing the environment. Should be quite an atmospheric piece as the only thing that looks alive is the kingfisher that sits ontop Rustbuckets staff."
This is realy lovely. Normally I don't like paintings when they have just a tiny amount of blur in it, but in this one, it looks awesome. It gives a good focal point around the robots. And the robots look damn good. Original concept, good worked out. My fav.
I have looked at this piece for over a month. The poem that came to me did not seem to do it the honors I felt it deserver. I tossed it in the trash, then my ex-girl pulled it out thinking it was a love letter to some unknown other woman, NOT GUILTY.
Well I had to post it because it was resurrected, I hope you like the poem, and it still does not touch the perfection I see in the colors of your work. EXCELLENT!!!!!
wow. this's neat. a little creepy, but neat. it reminds me a LOT of the robots of Laputa from Hayao Miyazaki's film Laputa: Castle in the sky. if you're curious, head over to [link] for more details about it.
how on earth do you do soemthing like that?!
