quite a simple picture really. nothing clever going on, no 2D, no shiney spikey tentacles or anything, just the bare bones of colour and form. I like it that way. Kinda makes a statement without trying to be clever. Just enjoy the image for its simplicity.

is this looking down into the depths... or up into the sky? I think it can be both. Right now, I'm in a good mood, and I think it's the sky.

Yes does look more simplistic than some of your other stuff.

Colour:
I think the colour choice is quite well suited to the pieces overall structure and design. The bright yellow in the background creats intensity and a feeling of anticipation for the viewer, while he/she is also distracted by the colours in the forground; quite a nice effect really.
The way in which the colour flows (from light to dark) is another aspect to take into consideration as it somewhat makes the piece seem a lot more realistic then it is, which then reflects on it's emotion. I also admire the use of the dull blues to reveal the images terrrain.
Overall though I think you created a nice feel with he colour aspect, well done.

Texture/Style:
Even though everything has a basic plain flat texture, this combined with itself many times over on each surface creates a real subterranean look, it also assists in the creation of depth, which is always quite important I think, particularly in a piece such as this.
In it's own way it's quite unique and it's good to see something a little different rather than yes "shiny spiky tentacles" with a bright centre somewhere and little 2D thrown in. I actually admire the use of no 2D in this one as it would have been a little over spoiled if it do have 2D I think.
Finally I somewhat see your own style that I notice in many of your works. It's good to see your stretching out, but also staying within your own boundaries.

Theme:
Going back to one comment made by ~ veloxcruentus
"I like this one -- Instead of looking at the void, it seems like there's an explosion that we'll soon be consumed by. A mere fact of human's looking at their own death, such as that of a car heading straight on them, or the likings, with no place to escape."
I share this feeling. In this you create that real sense of anxiety, anticipation and suspense. Yes rather than looking into a void, you actually are touched by the piece's emotive sense. This then nicely reaches out to the title of the piece "beneath and beyond" which being that beneath, that subterranean feel I was explaining, and beyond with the emotions I just stated.

Objects/Structure:
This one embarks a simply yet effective placement of random rectangular prisms it seems. Even though they are placed randomly, together they create the piece's foundation.
Often I feel like to create depth, artists use (digital artists in this case) 2D as a means to quickly create that feel. Now I know that it can be effective, and yes I do agree with that, but sometimes I think it's a little over done, but this pece, nope. No need for any 2D it has depth, mainly with the help of colour and object placement.
In some ways it reminds me of a futuristic city, with the spontaneous size of each object.

Composition/Overall:
So, now it comes to the final part in this comment. (I hope artists don't mind my extended comments)
This piece is unique, emotional, and once again it had depth. I know it may sound I over emphasize depth but I think it's quite important.
I love it's title and the way it fits the piece's feel and colour along with theme are also very well done.

ooh. yes. i like it. it reminds me of like, some kind of space-station structure thingy blowing up. and thats like, the explosion ripping through a large canyon in the structure..
...maybe not. i might just be totally insane. always a possibility. <_<

titan AE in most of the movie...

that sort of thing...
