Description

tiny burrowing owl, shot at the Screech Owl Sanctuary near Goss Moor, Cornwall

I got so many amazing up close and personal shots of the owls at this place, but this really stood out for me. Perfect for a caption I'm sure ;)

This guy was really small, but omg how much character did he have. According to the handler he spent his entire time trying to get the female staff to lay an egg for him... i lol'd greatly.

Photographically speaking, not great. this shot is backlit, so the owl is pretty flat looking :S but still, I'm learning right?

Wonderfully done. The way the photo is taken makes the bird seem as if it is staring directly into your soul and that in it of itself brings this photo alive. The colours, shades, and lighting are all completely true to life and seem completely unaltered, yet there seems to be some sort of lifelike energy coming out of the picture itself. The owl almost seems as if he's giving you a "what're you lookin' at" type of look, and I feel that is something you can only catch once in a lifetime. This is a brilliantly done photo and I hope to see many more in the future.

(My apologies if it seems like I have no idea what I am talking about, I've never taken a photography class in my life so I have no idea of and of the compositional aspects to photo-taken, so I can only go by what I see and can describe)
