Hopefully, on seeing this, people who watch me on a regular basis will say 'wow, thats a heck of lot different from his usual shit'.
Thats certainly what I said when I had the idea. The render came about after wanting to do something that *wasn't* red or blue on a black background which is what most abstracts, my own included. seem to be.
This was about the vibe, about the atmosphere, about the inspiration and most importantly about the feel.
Unusually for me, the vector 2D took me ages to get right. the render was dead simple really, with only minimal work in photoshop, so the rest of the brushing needed, for once, to be subtle or it would ruin the piece. So, I guess you can say I'm dead chuffed with the result
Most of the inspiration came from Devin Townsends 'Infinity' album. Not listened to this in a while and he is one of my fav artists. Check the album out, its genius.

Blured and lighten up on the edges, light colored, high complex shapes, use of WHITE instead of black or blue, no "sparks" or "flashes", no exaggerated perspective ...
Yes indeed it is very different. I love the organic look of it like roots of a very tall tree reaching down to get water. And the colors are much more cheery than what you usually do. All in all, very nice work.
